For the longest time it has driven me crazy that I have all of the Harry Potter books in hardback except for Sorcerer's Stone. I only had that one in paperback (2 copies).

I just went to the used bookstore and they had a copy that looks BRAND SPANKIN' NEW and since it was used and I had credit it only cost $7.

I HAVE A COMPLETE HARDBACK SET OF HARRY POTTER.

I haven't had much time to post lately and when I do have time to post I have nothing more to say than "Hey, we did more moving stuff today." Sorry I have been commenting even less than usual. These days are crazy. I have plans to see Harry Potter tomorrow with Jack and I'm going to Build-A-Bear with Maria on Friday and I have to clean out Hugo because we're selling him (;_;) on Saturday or Sunday. Also, Ste got an iPod Touch (he needs one for school) and I kinda hate him for it 'cause it's pretty darn nifty.

I leave you with this: A picspam about how Josh Lyman and Seeley Booth are basically the same person. LOL, I LOVE IT.

P.S. In the midst of The Silver Chair right now. Puddleglum is pretty cool. I think I'm going to reread all of HP, not just Deathly Hallows when I'm done.

P.P.S. Middleman DVDs in TWO WEEKS.

Soooooo, I don't think I mentioned this but I'm in the midst of finally reading The Chronicles of Narnia. I've started to read them several times but I only got four books in because I was distracted or didn't have the next book or whatever. But I got the entire series in one volume for my last birthday so I decided to read them this summer.

I finished Prince Caspian this morning, which is the last one I have previously read. The last three - I started Voyage of the Dawn Treader after dinner - are completely new to me and I'm SO EXCITED to finally read them.

(I'm also a little excited because I bought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in paperback yesterday and I'm going to reread it once I'm finished with Narnia. I miss HP.)

If you love Harry Potter and have not yet read Harry, A History by Melissa Anelli, get your ass in gear and read it right now.

The chapter on the release of Deathly Hallows left me in tears and I want nothing more than to reread the series right now. The whole thing was just perfect and it's so nice reading a book by someone who "gets it." More than once I found myself nodding at things Anelli wrote that I know non-fans (or even less-enthusiastic fans) just wouldn't understand.

But yeah, fantastic book.

we're here with you tonight

First: I got my box from Amazon today. I have The Composer is Dead by Lemony Snicket! Um, it's bigger than I thought it would be. Not in terms of pages but in terms of actual size; it's like a big picture book. I haven't read/listened to it yet. I think I might actually wait until tomorrow after I'm done with work so I can come back and enjoy it in peace because I'll be done for the week. Assuming I can hold out that long. ;)

Second: I'm reading Harry, A History by Melissa Anelli right now and I loooove it. At the moment I'm on the wizard rock chapter which makes me giddy because I love Harry and the Potters and I've seen them in concert twice and I've actually had dinner with Paul and Joe and all I wanted to do during my Mark Twain seminar today was listen to "Save Ginny Weasley" and "The Weapon." :D But yeah, this book is really great.

i need another bookish icon

Well this is damn nifty: Harry Potter covers redesigned to look like Penguin Classics. If those were real, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. They're PERFECT.

[Stole the link from The BDR.]

ETA: A Series of Unfortunate Events, redesigned the same way. OMG.

My friend Maria is visiting for the weekend! WOOT! And the birthday-ish festivities rage on, apparently; she brought me a cookie cake! We watched two episodes of Angel last night, "Juno" (outside in the amphitheater; it was a campus event, good fun) and "Stardust." I'm not really sure what we're doing today. More Angel perhaps? (She's in the middle of season 2 but she doesn't own season 2 so I'm trying to get her through it so she can watch s3, which she does own.)

Aaaaaaand I just spent $70 on Amazon. Niiiiiiiice. I got Dexter s2, Pushing Daisies s1, All the Way Home by David Giffels, and Hyperion by Dan Simmons, which [info]retrocareer suggested. It looks pretty cool.

I don't think I mentioned what my awesome roomies got me for my birthday! Casey got me "Enchanted" on DVD. Kerry and Vitina got me a ticket to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee again when it comes to Dayton in February. :D See? Awesome roommates. Oh and Maria pre-ordered The Tales of Beedle the Bard for my birthday. WOOT!

Wow, two WOOTs this post. Must be a good day.

P.S. I LOVE NPH.

thank you, amazon

Blah blah, HBP trailer, blah blah, whatever. This is definitely the cooler Harry Potter news: Amazon is releasing The Tales of Beedle the Bard in December. ZOMG.

Why Today is Awesome:

+ Got my paycheck - woo money!
+ Received a package from the family that includes a t-shirt, 2 books, and a set of Harry Potter trading cards (thanks, Buddy!)
+ Choral Union was canceled
+ Text message from Mom: Hot blooded on the radio i thought of you Bones tonight!
+ BOOOOOOOOOOONES

Damn, I'm having a good week so far. Crap, I just tempted the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing, didn't I? Oh well.

My best inconsequential decision of the week: to download the Deathly Hallows audiobook. Oh Stephen Fry. I could sit here and listen to "The Silver Doe" all day.

i'm about to start my re-read but first...

One day, I will learn not to get excited about HP movies that way I won't be disappointed.

I hope I'll like it more if I see it again... )

I am, however, more in love with Rupert Grint than I thought possible.

And this is how it ends.

I just started typing and then I couldn’t stop; some jumbled, mostly-coherant thoughts about the end of the Harry Potter series. )

Oh God, it’s really ending, isn’t it?

If this isn’t the exact definition of bittersweet I don’t know what is.

At work, we have to mark any bill $20 or higher with the conterfeit pen. Usually I'm in such a rush that I just do a check mark or a squiggly doodle. We were pretty slow tonight and when a customer paid with a $50 bill, and Grant's receding-hairline forehead was just there, I drew a lightning bolt on his forehead instead. :D

Speaking of which, I have a new layout!! I haven't had a new layout in........... forever? I'm rather proud of it.

Don't get me wrong, Harry Potter is my friend. Anyone who gets ten million kids reading books is my friend. I mean, when the little punters grow up, what kind of material will they be looking for, do you think? That's right, more light-hearted supernatural stories but with scads of profanity, sex, violence, and dark humor. And I'll be there, books in hand, waiting for the little bleeders.

01. More from the FOX Sucks department: according to the official press release on the Season 2 Bones DVD release, "Player Under Pressure" (that episode they totally skipped this season) will be shown sometime during season 3 and, therefore, will appear on the season 3 DVD release instead. Wanktards.

02. J.K. Rowling is going to tour the U.S. The last event - "an event on the evening of October 19, 2007 in New York City" - is open to fans of all ages. Scholastic is going to have a sweepstakes for tickets. I'm smiling just thinking about it.

03. And before I forget: [info]_allshallfade!! HEY! In case you haven't seen, My So-Called Life is getting rereleased on DVD with lots of extras and stuff.
